Yser Tower + Museum
The Museum and Ysertower are closed from 5 till 25 January 2026.
The best known war monument in Diksmuide is the Yser Tower, where you can visit the ‘Museum aan de IJzer’ (Museum on the Yser) with its 22 floors. On each floor, you get lots of information about life during the First World War in this region. The museum brings the story of the Belgian-German confrontation on the one hand and the Flemish emancipation on the other. Don’t forget to enjoy the unique view at the top of the tower!

On September 20, 2023, the crypt of the Yser Tower was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Museum and Yser Tower are closed from 5 till 25 January 2026.
- October – March: every day from 9am – 5pm. Closed on Wedsnesdays, except during Flemish school holidays (18/02)
- April – September: every day from 9am – 6pm. Closed on Wednesdays, except during Flemish school holidays (08/04, 15/04, 01/07, 08/07, 15/07, 22/07, 29/07, 05/08, 12/08/, 19/08, 26/08, 04/11, ...)
- Weekends and Belgian Bank Holidays (06/04, 01/05, 14/05, 25/05, 21/07, 02/11, 11/11/2026): open from 10am.
- Last admission 1 hour before closing time.
Closed on 24/12, 25/12, 26/12, 31/12, 01/01, 02/01 and three weeks after the Christmas Holidays (5 - 25 January 2026)
Tariff
€ 11,50 p.p. | 7 – 17 years old: € 6 p.p. | Students on presentation of student card): € 8 p.p. | Younger than 7: free | Family ticket (2 adults + max. 3 children): € 33 (not valid for groups)
For groups of more than 20 people (also schools), a guided tour is included in the entry ticket.
Attention: dogs are not allowed in the museum!
