Beguines' convent (Beguinage)
West Flanders only has three “beguinages” or convents left. Apart from Bruges and Kortrijk, Diksmuide also has one. The Beguines’ Convent was built behind the town’s canal in the 13th century. After the First World War, it first became a care home, now it’s a place where mentally disabled people live. There is a little chapel where you can light a candle. The gift shop “Miss Sibylle’s House” offers nice and authentic creations, made by the people who live at the site.dicap.
The Beguines’ convent is always accessible and the entrance is free.
The chapel is open daily from 7am to 8pm.
The gift shop and information point is open from Wednesday until Saturday from 2pm until 5.30pm.
